The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) has partnered in a new venture that we believe will become the most important TV release in 2013. ‘The Bible’ is an epic 10-hour television series on the entire Bible – from Genesis through Revelation – that aims at inspiring people to engage with the Bible in a fresh way with the slogan ‘the story everyone knows, told like never before’.

The WEA has played a key role in connecting this project to evangelical leaders and bringing it to a global level. The series that was produced by Mark Burnett and Roma Downey will premiere on History Channel on five consecutive Sundays with the final episode on Easter Sunday. But it is also being translated into various languages and will be aired on other TV channels around the world.

After viewing ‘The Bible’, Dr. Geoff Tunnicliffe, Secretary General of the WEA, said: “I had the immense privilege of previewing the entire 10-hour TV Bible Series. It was a marathon but well worth it. At the conclusion, I felt like I had gone through the whole Bible and experienced the meta-narrative of scripture - God's amazing love for humanity.”

“Mark Burnett and his wife Roma Downey are giving the global church a remarkable gift,” he adds. “This series is epic in its production, powerful in its storytelling and deeply spiritually moving. The superlatives could go on... It is a once in a generation project. Let's get fully behind it when it launches in North America on 3/3/13 and then the following months around the world.”
